In honor of Lupercalia every year (and generally while thumbing our noses at Valentines Day) my family and I watch the best of the worst werewolf movies that we can get our hands on. I thought I'd share that tradition with you through this review of Claude Lecouteux' "Mysteries of The Werewolf: Shapeshifting, Magic & Protection."

Claude Lecouteux is a professor emeritus of medieval literature and civilization at the Sorbonne. He is the author of numerous books on medieval and pagan afterlife beliefs and magic, including The Book of Grimoires, Dictionary of Ancient Magic Words and Spells, and The Tradition of Household Spirits. He lives in Paris.
