About the Event
Bone-throwing is one of the oldest known forms of divination. Rooted in ancestor veneration, land-based practice, and careful relationship with the dead, this class offers a grounded, responsible introduction to divination with human and animal remains, emphasizing reverence, consent, and long-term caretaking. We'll cover methods of bone preparation, cleaning, preservation, and ongoing care, alongside the ethical frameworks that govern this work from sourcing materials responsibly, navigating cultural boundaries, historical precedents, and understanding when not to engage. Regional practices will be discussed to provide context, while remaining clear about the difference between tradition, personal lineage, and modern adaptation. This class is intended for practitioners who approach the dead with seriousness and respect and participants should come prepared to engage with the material thoughtfully, ethically, and with an understanding that osteomancy is as much about responsibility as it is divination.
