About the Event
We will explore the intersection of witchcraft, necromancy, and political resistance in the context of authoritarian regimes. Focusing on how marginalized communities can use magical practices such as necromancy as a springboard for activism and community centered work. In addition we'll examine some historical examples of witchcraft as resistance, ranging from the occult resistance during the rise of fascism, to modern-day magical activism on—on both sides of the aisle. Students will explore how necromancy serves as a radical tool for reclaiming lost histories, amplifying silenced voices, and challenging oppressive ideologies, offering new possibilities for resistance and social change.
